Quilting guilds and sewing groups are a good way for south central Kentucky quilters to learn, share work, and find local events. This page lists the area’s guilds, along with the statewide and national organizations that local quilters take part in.
Creative Quilters of Southern Kentucky
Creative Quilters of Southern Kentucky is the Bowling Green area’s quilting guild. The guild hosts an annual quilt show for Quilter’s Day Out, held on the third Saturday in March; the March 2025 show ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bob Kirby Library (Warren County Public Library), with free admission for a canned-good donation. The guild trades Quilter’s Day Out hosting years with Quilting Friends of Glasgow in Barren County, and it has co-sponsored Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society Quilt Registry days at the Kentucky Museum at Western Kentucky University.
The guild has no standalone website. Find out more through SOKY Happenings, or through The Kentucky Quilt Company inside the Sewing & Vacuum Center at 1575 Campbell Lane in Bowling Green, which publicizes guild events. Visitors are welcome at shows and meetings.

Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society (KHQS)
The Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society is Kentucky’s statewide quilt society, organized into 13 districts. KHQS founded Quilter’s Day Out in Kentucky in March 1990 — the event that became National Quilting Day, observed on the third Saturday of March. The society runs the Kentucky Quilt Registry, which documents vintage Kentucky quilts; the registry records are stored at the Kentucky Museum in Bowling Green. KHQS also holds an annual Getaway, Quilting Adventures retreats and workshops, and a quarterly member newsletter. Its sister groups are Quilt Artists of Kentucky (QAK) and the Kentucky Heritage Appliqué Society (KHAS). Readers can join online at khqs.org, which lists current dues.
American Quilter’s Society (AQS)
The American Quilter’s Society is a national organization headquartered in Paducah, Kentucky. AQS runs the AQS QuiltWeek shows, including Paducah — scheduled for April 21–24, 2027.
